Our uniformed ambulance unit is crewed by a dedicated team of volunteers from all walks of life. Our members include medical staff, engineers, students, managers, IT professionals and many more. We operate two highly equipped ambulances and two bike units based behind St Finbarr's Hospital, in nearby Half Moon Lane. Our Unit members are very experienced and trained to at least Emergency First Response standard. We train our crew up to Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Practitioner standard allowing them to carry EMT licences.
Our Unit and crews are dedicated to providing a high quality professional ambulance service, actively engaging in our community, and responding in times of need as part of the world's largest humanitarian organisation. We maintain our vehicles and training so that we are ready at a moments notice of a local or national emergency. To assist us in this endeavour we offer First Aid and Event Medical Cover in our community. In addition to this our Cork City Branch offers a wide range of community activities and services with the aid of the ambulance Unit and crews.

Also due to the Irish Red Cross's role as an auxiliary service to the HSE National Ambulance Service, we are part of the Cork Major Emergency Plan and are therefore at the ready for deployment 24/7 all year around in the event of an incident. We have a Major Medical Incident Management and Support Team Provider in the Unit. In addition to this role the Irish Red Cross is regulated by the Department of Defence and can be called upon to assist the Army Medical Service during times of conflict. We also have a number of Red Cross Instructors in our Unit who provide BLS training, Cardiac First Response and First Aid Training to new members and the general public.
